The Common Ground Fellowship for a young Adivasi journalist

Application deadline: December 12, 2021

Scroll.in announces an annual fellowship as part of its Common Ground project, which seeks to expand knowledge of vital yet underreported areas of Indian life.

The inaugural fellowship will be awarded to a young Adivasi journalist in recognition of the severe underrepresentation of Adivasi voices in India’s English-language news media.

The journalist will get an opportunity to be part of Scroll.in’s reporting team. While the position will be located within the framework of the Common Ground project, which covers six thematic areas (health, education, work, gender, land and climate), the journalist may also get to write on other subjects in the news section of the publication.

The basic requirements for the position are a graduate degree, research and writing skills, and a demonstrated interest in journalism. Work experience in a news organisation will be considered a bonus.

The fellowship grant is Rs 35,000 per month, with travel expenses covered separately.

The candidate can be based anywhere in India, preferably close to the areas they wish to report from.

To apply, please send your CV, two writing samples, and a 400-word pitch on a story you would like to cover to commonground@scroll.in, with ‘Common Ground Fellowship’ mentioned in the subject line of your email. The application deadline is December 12. If you have any queries related to the fellowship, please drop an email at the same address.
