Scroll is looking for a talented early-career journalist who is eager to immerse themselves in the world of news and audience engagement by leveraging social media to expand the reach of our award-winning journalism.
The job involves working closely with a small team led by Scroll’s audience editor to ensure our readers and viewers get our journalism wherever they are, and feel motivated to become part of our community of paying members.
The ideal candidate would have two years of experience in a digital news organisation, an ability to write and design compelling social media posts using tools such as Canva, and an understanding of social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and analytics tools like Google Trends and Google Analytics.
However, freshers and journalism students graduating this summer who do not have the requisite experience may be considered for a paid internship to work with the audience team, provided they can demonstrate a keen interest in social media communication, excellent writing skills, good design sensibilities, and have the appetite for daily work in a fast-paced, yet thoughtful news environment. Those who excel in the internship may be considered for a full-time position in the newsroom.
Location: Preferably Delhi, Mumbai, where we have offices. Exceptional candidates may be considered for remote work.
Scroll is a small newsroom that punches above its weight. We work with limited resources to produce ambitious, award-winning work that informs and inspires. If you share our enthusiasm for independent journalism and believe you are a good fit for this role, send us your resume with a cover letter.
Additionally, select two main articles from Scroll's website and tell us how you would promote them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Create a post for each platform, and for Instagram, be creative with a visually-appealing graphic card(s) and send them to jobs@scroll.in by April 4 with the subject line: “Social Media Editor”.
If you are a student or fresher, then please apply with the subject line: “Social Media Intern”.
The sooner you apply, the stronger your chances of being shortlisted for an interview.
